10 Best Websites for Millennial Women

Millennials are referred to a segment of population born between 1982 and 2000. They have emerged as both trend-setters and major consumers in global markets. The following list has been compiled for the Millennial Generation who will lead consumer markets for the next two decades.

You will be surprised to know that ‘Rookie’ was founded by a 16-year old. The website is dedicated to culture and lifestyle of teenage girls. ‘HerCampus’ is a website “by college women, for the college women.” It offers a platform for women in college to write articles about anything they are interested in. ‘20 Nothing,’ founded by a writer and producer Jessie Rosen, is packed with her anecdotes and advice. It earned so much popularity that it was even published as a book.

‘Intern Sushi’ and ‘Ed2010’ offers useful information for college students and young professionals seeking internships. There is ‘Girls Who Code’ on the list for young women interested in computer. The organization aims to provide computer science education for 1 million young women by 2020. ‘HerAgenda’ and ‘GenerationMeh’ provide business advice for the ambitious Millennials.

Last but not least, ‘Quarterlette’ covers a wide range of topics for those in their late 20’s who have already spent a quarter of their lives. ‘HelloGiggles’ was created by an actress and musician Zooey Deschanel, producer Sophia Rossi, and writer Molly McAleer. It is a culture and lifestyle website which has recently expanded its reach to cover Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations.

32 fresh sites

It is noteworthy that there is a considerable number of fresh sites – 32. Let’s take a look at some of them and observe new trends.

If you pursue success in your career, check out ‘City Girl Confidence’ and ‘Diane Gottsman.’ While the former provides articles and resources to rejuvenate career women, the latter offers etiquette tips. The website ‘Dutiee’ provides advice for social entrepreneurs, nonprofit success stories, and ethically-manufactured goods.

Among others, readers have paid much attention to websites created by best-selling authors. Author of Who Says It's a Man's World founded ‘Emily Bennington’ which guides women to develop leadership. ‘Lean In’ is an online community whose creation was inspired by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg’s book by the same title. The community provides both online and offline resources for ambitious women. ‘Half the Sky’ helps launch a movement to fight gender discrimination and violence across the globe. It was inspired by a book by the same title and it was produced as a film.

Other online communities with unique concept are attractive as well. ‘Very Short List’ is a case in point. Each day subscribers receive a short e-mail newsletter from a different curator who shares cultural gems themed around diverse topics such as food and design. ‘The Good Guide’ is another example. Users can browse over 140,000 personal care and household products which are ranked on healthiness, green-ness, and safety.
