Following a series of incidents involving sexual violence against kids including the one in which an eleven-year old girl was sexually assaulted and killed in Yongsan on February 17, 2006, the government declared February 22 'A Day to Uproot Sexual Violence Against Kids'. Meanwhile, to eradicate the rapidly growing overseas sex trade by Koreans, it has decided not to allow reissuing of visas to those involved in buying sex abroad.
