Many people believe workplace dating can be risky. It may be helpful to your profession to a certain extent, but not always. Nina Bahadur of the Huffington Post introduced 7 famous couples who started as coworkers and demonstrate that dating someone within your workplace can work out. Here is the list.

Michelle and Barack Obama.

They met in 1989 while working at Sidley Austin, a Chicago law firm. Michelle was the mentor of Barack, then a summer associate. They were among the few African Americans at their workplace. They married in 1992. Even after Barack was elected to the U.S. Senator, Michelle continued to work as a lawyer. She began working for the University of Chicago Hospitals as Vice President for Community and External Affairs before Barack’s 2008 presidential campaign started.

Melinda and Bill Gates

Melinda was employed by Bill’s Microsoft in 1987. Four months later, they were seated next to each other at a Microsoft press event. The two got married in 1994. Bill and Melinda created the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to expand opportunities to the world’s most disadvantaged people. Recently, they were awarded the Lasker Medical Prize.

Samantha Power and Cass Sunstein

They were both advisors on the Obama campaign in 2008. Sunstein, a legal scholar at Harvard, married Power, a Pulitzer prize-winning journalist, a US legal scholar, and currently serving as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations. Their wedding took place in Power’s native Ireland in July 2008.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Also known as Brangelina, the two met while filming “Mr & Mrs. Smith in 2005. Their relationship was publicly announced in 2006 after Pitt’s divorce to Jennifer Aniston was concluded. They have three biological children and three adopted children. Also, they are heavily involved in international relief efforts. In May, Jolie talked about her voluntary breast removal surgery to prevent breast cancer. The couple is said to be preparing for official marriage.

Tina Brown and Harold Evans

While Tina Brown is currently serving as Editor-in-Chief of Newsweek and The Daily Beast, Harold Evans is a famous columnist who used to be an editor of The Sunday Times. They met in the 1970s when Brown worked as a freelancer for The Sunday Times where Evans was the editor. After the two started dating, Brown moved to the Sunday Telegraph. The pair got married in 1981.

Wendy Kopp and Richard Barth

While Kopp is the founder of Teach for America, Barth is the President of the KIPP Foundation. Kopp first met Barth when she interviewed him for a job in the early 90s. Even after married, they are working in the field of education.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr.

The two Hollywood stars met while filming “I Know What You Did Last Summer” in 1997. It has been over 10 years since the two got married. Gellar recently gave birth to her second child.
