Park may become the second Korean athlete to win the title
World number one Park In-bee(25, KB Financial Group) who claimed her fifth LPGA victory of the season has been short-listed for WSF’s Sportswoman of the Year.
Tennis legend Billie Jean King founded the Women’s Sports Foundation in order to “advance the lives of girls and women through sports and physical activity.” Since its establishment in 1974, WSF has given the award based on athletes' records. In 2010, Kim Yuna was the first Korean to be granted the award. For this year, 8 finalists were selected based on their performances between August 13, 2012 to July 31, 2013.
The final candidates include Park In-bee, U.S. tennis player Serena Williams, Japanese figure skater Mao Asada, U.S. snowboarder Kielly Clark, U.S. swimmer Missy Franklin U.S. pole vaulter Jenn Suhr, U.S. Paralympic wheelchair athlete Tatyana McFadden, and Slovenian alpine skier Tina Maze.
