그런 사람들이 여혐발언을 한다든가 페미니즘이 별로다, 이렇게 말하면 훨씬 더 큰 절망을 느끼는 거 같아. 원래 내가 기대가 별로 없었던 사람들은 아 원래 저렇지, 생각하는데 다른 문제들에서 공감하고 아 되게 좋은 생각을 많이 한다고 느꼈던 사람이 그런 말을 하면 실망감과 좌절감을 더 많이 느끼는 거 같아. 그런 사람들은 페미니즘이 뭔지 알아보려고만 해도 좋을 거 같아. 그러다 보면 생각이 바뀔 가능성도 훨씬 큰 사람들이니까.”
“I wish men who call themselves progressive had more interest in feminism and its issues.
When people like that say something misogynic or say they think feminism is nothing much I feel a much deeper despair. For people I don’t expect much of I can think ‘well, they’re always like that.’ But when it’s someone who identified with me on other problems, someone I thought had many good ideas, the disappointment and discouragement is greater. I feel it would be better if they just wanted to seek out what feminism is, because they’re the type with a bigger chance of changing their own thoughts.”
