“I’ve started hospital practice this year. At first I thought that when I personally met patients I would witness raw suffering. After starting I found that basically, doctors are the ones who fight with illnesses; students like me fight with ignorance. Every time I get embarrassed of my short knowledge, then blame and berate myself. It was me who became the subject of pain. I suffer and see doctors endlessly experiencing stress while patients have a hard time. It’s like I’m right in the center of pain. Medical science is a pressing area of study and the Korean medical community is a system that ‘grinds’ people to keep going. It’s strenuous for all that are involved, but it’s been taken for granted.”
