“사회 문제에 관심을 두고 참여를 계속해서 해온 것이 저한테는 세상으로부터 나를 지키는 방법이었던 것 같아요. 다른 사람을 바꾸고 세상을 바꾸고 물론 그런 생각들도 하긴 했지만, 그럼 좋겠다고도 생각했지만, 어쨌든 출발점은 내가 바뀌지 않도록 나를, 나라는 사람의 가장 기본적인 부분을 지키고 싶었던 거죠. 공격이 최대의 방어라고 하잖아요. 내가 세상을 향해 발언하는 것이 세상이 나를 바꿔놓지 않도록 방어할 수 있는 최선의 방어책인 거죠. 그러나 그래서 지켜야 하는 나라는 것이 어떤 것일까 그것들이 전부 다 맞는 것이고 내가 항상 고수해야 하는 일들만 있는 것일까 하는 것은 생각해볼 일이겠죠. 그게 지금까지의 활동이었던 것 같아요. 앞으로는 어떨지 모르겠어요.”
“To me having interest in the matters of society and continuously participating has been a way of protecting myself from the world. Of course I knew I wanted to change the world or people and understood that was ideal, but the start of my efforts was the thought that I wanted to keep myself from changing. I wanted to maintain the most fundamental parts of myself. They say attack is the maximal defense. Speaking up to the world was my way of defending myself from change inflicted by society. However defining the ‘me’ that I have to protect, and if the parts I want to keep safe and consistent are all correct elements are issues I have to consider. That has basically been my activities up to now. I don’t know what will happen in the future.”
